Project Gutenberg – Ambas Américas, conceived and realized jointly by the Biblioteca Quiroga Sarmiento, the Proyecto Sarmiento and the Gutenberg Project, is a virtual library dedicated to the spread of works of the fundamental authors of the two Americas.
The above mentioned project contributes to the Biblioteca Virtual Cervantes, Proyecto Sarmiento and the Biblioteca Digital del Bicentenario of the Argentine National Library, with donations of written articles belonging to the prominent american authors.
PG – Ambas Américas was gestated by Ernesto Romano y Arturo Estanislao (Proyecto Sarmiento), Michael Hart and Greg Newby (Project Gutenberg) and John Guagliardo (PG Consortia Center), and was inaugurated on October the 29th 2007, 16 exact years after Project Gutenberg was born for the mass media. It is a private and non-profit-making entity, inspired in the republican philosophy which linked Benjamin Franklin and Domingo Faustino Sarmiento.
